Waterways

The series Waterways was conceived of during an artist residency at Anchor Graphics in Chicago. Humanity’s impact on our environment is powerful. We must choose to live in awareness of our connection to the earth. This series began with a focus on how the freshwater fish population in Chicago and around the world are negatively affected by the many medications we ingest on a daily basis and the byproducts that we excrete into the water. This original series of prints layered bathroom plumbing, the human excretory system and topographical maps of waterways in Illinois. This series has since extended and evolved into drawings and animations exploring the systems that connect us to the waterways we live near. When I moved to the Hudson Valley I became interested in the Hudson River specifically and am continuing work on this series through the lens of the place I currently inhabit.
